This exquisite vintage Chinese seal is crafted from Shoushan Tianhuang stone, highly prized for its warm, honey-yellow hue and smooth, highly translucent, oil-like texture. The stone is a "hard material" variety, indicating its exceptional density and quality.
The top of the seal features a meticulously carved ancient beast (guardian lion) finial, depicted in a seated, majestic pose with intricate details. The rectangular base is adorned with traditional Chinese calligraphy filled with gold pigment, alongside a red seal script mark. The seal face is clearly carved and ready for use. This piece is attributed to the artist Shi Xiu, dated to the Ren Chen year, and is a distinguished addition to any collection of Asian antiques or scholar's objects.
