A striking antique English covered sugar bowl of black transfer-printed pearlware, in the type collectors often call “Salopian.” Large blossoms and bold acanthus scrolls are printed in black across the body and domed lid. Crisp touches of blue paint pick out the scrolled handles, the finial, and the gently scalloped rim.

At nearly 8" across the handles and 6 1/4" tall, it’s a generous size with real presence on a sideboard, tea table, or open shelf. It was made en suite with a matching teapot, which I’m also offering, in the same pattern and with the same blue accents.

Condition: Good antique condition with honest age. There is a repair to the underside of the lid, and I glaze flake on the lid knob top, and glaze roughness on the edges near the lid.
