The set dates from the first half of the 20th century, approximately from the 1920s to the 1930s. The set consists of a large washbasin, a water jug, an oval jar with a lid and a smaller round jar with a lid. The elongated jar was used to store a brush, comb or other hygiene items, while the smaller jar was intended primarily for soap. The individual parts have clean geometric shapes corresponding to the Art Deco period. The white glazed surface is decorated with wide gold bands and fine gold lines. The jar is striking with a distinctive square handle and a geometrically shaped spout. On the underside there is a manufacturing mark with a crown and the inscription Manufacture Impériale et Royale, Nimy, Fabrication Belge, Made in Belgium. The Nimy manufactory operated near the Belgian city of Mons and was one of the major producers of utility and decorative ceramics.
