This is a practical and at the same time decorative piece of historical furniture, which was intended as a toilet chair with a closable opening in the seat. Thanks to the high-quality craftsmanship, solid design and elegant shaping, the chair looks very representative and as an interesting solitaire in a historical interior. The structure is made of solid beech wood with a warm brown shade. The chair has distinctively shaped bent armrests, turned front legs and turned vertical elements in the backrest. The upper backrest is slightly curved, which together with the round armrests gives the whole an elegant, soft line. The seat part is equipped with a wooden lid, under which there is a circular opening. The lower front part consists of a closable door with a simple wooden handle, allowing access to the interior. The chair is relatively heavy, solid and stable. It has been preserved in excellent condition, without any worms. The surface of the wood has a pleasant patina corresponding to its age and use. This piece is suitable not only as a collector's item or a sample of historical hygiene equipment, but also as an original addition to a castle interior, museum, stylish bathroom, country house or thematically tuned exhibition. Date: around 1920. Provenance: Belgium. Dimensions: height 81 cm, seat height 48 cm, width 58.5 cm, depth 56.5 cm See less
