The family business was founded by Sergio Mechini and Grazia Dei in Florence in 1970 and still produces lighting exclusively by hand with an emphasis on traditional craft techniques, working with metal, crystal and decorative materials. Today, Mechini is considered a significant brand in the field of luxury interior design and its products appear in residences, hotels and representative interiors all over the world. The chandeliers are made of hand-hammered metal construction with a decorative gilded finish and decorated with rich cascades of cut crystal trimmings. A typical element of the Florentine style are glass flower bowls under the bulbs, delicate chains of crystal pearls and hanging cut drops, which create a distinctive play of light and reflections when lit. The combination of gilded metal, Bohemian crystal and decorative glass is based on traditional Italian craftsmanship, which the manufactory still uses today.
