A charming and highly characteristic watercolour and ink caricature attributed to Sem (Georges Goursat), one of the most celebrated illustrators and satirists of Belle Époque Paris. The work depicts a smiling waiter balancing a tray laden with refreshments upon his head, the tray prominently inscribed "Frascati," referring to the celebrated Café Frascati, one of Paris's most fashionable cafés and social gathering places during the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Very good condition, the colors remain fresh and well preserved, with minor age-related toning to the sheet and light handling wear consistent with age. The paper retains good integrity, and the image presents attractively. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
