Seen from behind, the child becomes less an individual portrait than a universal image of childhood and learning. Her luminous figure emerges from a deep blue atmosphere, while vibrant touches of pink, yellow, red and violet dissolve the contours and transform the scene into something almost dreamlike.
The partially visible writing on the blackboard becomes part of this evocative atmosphere, suggesting a fleeting memory rather than a precisely defined place. Criscuolo’s expressive brushwork and layered colour give the painting a sense of movement and emotional immediacy, as if the moment were being remembered rather than simply observed.
Signed lower left, the work is titled and stamped on the reverse. Oil on canvas, 90 × 50 cm. Presented unframed.
A sensitive and poetic interpretation of childhood, where an ordinary moment becomes a meditation on memory, learning and the passage of time. This piece has an attribution mark,
