The bookcase consists of three individually glazed stacking sections, each fitted with an up-and-over glass door. The glazed fronts lift and slide back into the cabinet, providing full access to each compartment.
The oak retains a particularly attractive aged patina, with variations in colour, surface wear and traces of use consistent with a piece of this age. Metal side fittings and the shaped plinth further contribute to its characteristic early 20th-century appearance.
Its construction and dimensions are notably consistent with known Globe-Wernicke sectional bookcases. In particular, the 86.5 cm width corresponds to the standard 34-inch format found on numerous original Globe-Wernicke examples, while the approximately 20 cm internal depth is also closely comparable.
However, there is no surviving manufacturer's label, stamp or inscription, and the back panels have been replaced at some point during the life of the piece. It is therefore offered conservatively as an English Globe-Wernicke type sectional bookcase, without a definitive manufacturer attribution.
A highly decorative and practical piece, suitable as a bookcase, display cabinet or collector's cabinet, and particularly effective when combined with contemporary interiors.
