Striking mid-century French ceramic catchall by Marcel Guillot, produced in Vallauris, the celebrated pottery center of southern France. This sculptural piece features a softly curved handle and an organic, asymmetrical form, finished in pale blue celadon glaze with subtle speckling.
The interior showcases a distinctive geometric starburst motif accented with earthy brown, olive, and charcoal tones. The combination of sculptural form, painterly decoration, and muted Mediterranean colors gives this piece wonderful vintage character.
Both functional and decorative, this versatile ceramic can be used as an ashtray, catchall, or small accent dish. Beautiful displayed on a cocktail table, desk, bookshelf, or bedside table, it would complement a collected interior with French mid-century, Mediterranean, or eclectic influences.
A distinctive example of French studio pottery with appealing sculptural presence and graphic detail.
Sourced in France.
