The palette is defined by a deep, saturated indigo field—a classic characteristic of high-quality Chinese production—which provides a dramatic backdrop for the delicate floral motifs. The intense saturation of the primary shade places it among the finest examples of blue color rugs, beautifully offset by the vibrant, warm salmon-red of the main border, creating a striking visual tension.

A graceful, large-scale ogee cartouche dominates the central field, framing a meticulously rendered display of flowering branches, wisteria, and traditional Chinese vases. The design is fluid and naturalistic, utilizing soft pinks, golds, and pale blues to highlight the intricate detail work against the dark ground, reflecting the sophisticated Chinoiserie style popular during this era.

Such pieces represent the pinnacle of transitional Chinese weaving, blending ancient techniques with contemporary demand for decorative elegance. As a highly collectible piece, this Peking carpet stands among the finest examples of antique rugs from the turn of the century, offering both historical depth and undeniable visual impact to any interior.
