Rare french advertising shop display cabinet for la fixine textile dyes, dating from the 1920s–1930s.
originally created as a counter display for a haberdashery, mercery or textile shop, this unusual piece opens like a triptych and reveals numerous compartments, original printed advertising panels, a central antique mirror and a preserved textile colour sample chart.
the front panel reads:
“la fixine – teint tous les tissus”
the cabinet has a distinctive architectural form with a pitched roof, folding side sections and a strong mustard-yellow painted finish with authentic age-related wear.
one of its most remarkable surviving features is the original textile sample chart, still retaining several coloured fabric swatches and printed dye references.
the combination of original advertising graphics, textile history, shop-fitting design and untouched patina makes this a particularly rare and decorative example of french commercial furniture.
