This exquisite piece exemplifies the fusion of traditional Chinese artistry with the bold, modern sensibilities of the Art Deco movement. Its highly saturated, pictorial design and unique oval shape make it a distinctive example among antique rugs.

Woven from high-quality wool, each oval rug features a deeply lustrous field dominated by a rich, warm yellow color. This striking hue is characteristic of the era's preference for vibrant, single-color backgrounds that allowed the sparse, stylized motifs to stand out dramatically. The color palette is further enhanced by subtle accents of deep indigo, teal, and muted rose.

The composition is asymmetrical and scenic, presenting a stylized landscape featuring cliffs, water, and traditional architecture rendered in simplified forms. Scattered across the field of this oval rug are delicate depictions of birds in flight and blossoming branches, lending the piece a tranquil, naturalistic quality while adhering to the geometric simplicity of the Art Deco style.

Beyond its artistic merit, the rug's elliptical oval shape and practical dimensions classify it as a highly desirable small scatter size. This format allows for versatile placement, serving as an exceptional accent piece in an entryway, dressing room, or beside a bed, offering a concentrated burst of color and historical elegance.
