This antique German shooting target features a colorful print of a festive scene of a traditionally dressed couple, showing a man raising his hat and dancing the bavarian schuplattler beside a seated woman. The green wooden frame bears hand-painted Gothic lettering with names and the date of the shooting event. Visible bullet marks in the center confirm its original use, making this a charming and authentic piece of shooting club history.

The target of honor or king's target is a traditional award in shooting competitions. The tradition is predominantly widespread in southern Germany, Austria and Lower Saxony. Honorary targets are donated and shot in honor of a personality, on the occasion of a birthday, a wedding or a prize shooting competition. They were often artistically designed and hand-painted, especially in the 18th and 19th centuries. With the advent of printing technology, targets were also created using artistic prints.
