This striking antique bronze sculpture depicts a standing peacock, a traditional symbol of beauty, dignity, and good fortune. The figure is finely cast with a detailed, crested head, a gracefully arched neck, and a long, sweeping tail that rests upon the ground as a support. The body is richly decorated with intricate, archaic-style relief patterns, including detailed feather scales across the neck and chest, and stylized plumage along the wings and tail. The bronze exhibits a deep, dark patina with extensive verdigris (green oxidation) throughout the recessed details, giving it a distinguished, excavated appearance. This piece is a powerful representation of traditional metalwork and would make a captivating addition to any collection of antique bronzes or Asian artifacts.
