This exquisite vintage jewelry box is a beautiful example of traditional Asian craftsmanship. Crafted from dark, richly grained wood, likely sandalwood, the lid is adorned with an intricate mother-of-pearl (shell) inlay depicting a majestic elephant carrying a vase on its back. This classic motif, known as "Tai Ping You Xiang" (Peaceful Times), symbolizes peace and prosperity.
The inlay features vibrant hues of white, green, pink, and blue, creating a stunning contrast against the dark wood. The box is further accented with brass corner mounts featuring stylized cloud motifs and a vintage-style brass latch on the front. This box is perfect for storing treasured jewelry, keepsakes, or small collectibles, making it both a functional organizer and a stunning decorative accent.
