The domed, removable lid is richly decorated with pierced, openwork designs and topped with a gilt dragon finial, allowing incense smoke to escape. The piece is decorated in the cloisonne technique with intricate wirework separating vibrant enamel cells on a turquoise ground, depicting scrolling floral and foliate motifs in shades of red, blue, green, yellow, and white. The legs are modeled as gilt animal masks. This piece is a striking example of traditional enamel craftsmanship and makes a distinguished decorative accent.
