Ferstadt was born in Russia in 1900- 1954, USA. Arrived in Chicago in 1910. Living and working in NYC, he established a career in mural work for the WPA and later in the growing comic book industry, Green Lantern.
The current work captures the demi-monde world of impersonators and the baudy showgirl. Beautifully composed and painted with a real design sensibility, an Art Deco portrait with a bit of surrealism in the mix.
The measurements are 32.5" by 29.5,", and the image is 25" by 22".
Signed in the composition to the upper right.
