Mirror was made late 18th century in famous Chippendale style, fine carvings, featuring a parcel gilt carved Shell / Seashell center cartouche on top. Gold shell matches the gilt inner molding that frames in the looking glass. Veneer is not the usual thin kind, it is rather extra thick, quality example the way all early work was done. The glass mirror part appears original to the piece, the silvering displays phenomenal tarnished patina. Back of the mirror has a paper affixed with provenance (read below). Quality is beyond words, a fine display of antique master craftsmanship, with perfect simple symmetry. Good condition, light use / age wear, 225+ years old - please see photos. Size is great to fit anywhere at 33" height and 17.5" widest point, while the mirrored portion alone is 19.5" x 11.5" wide. Spectacular piece of Americana ready to grace any traditional or mid-century modern setting! See less
