Scandinavian teak stool from the 1950s, featuring a distinctive palette-shaped seat with a circular hole and three tapered, black-lacquered legs.
Scandinavian teak stool from the 1950s, featuring a teak seat with an organic profile reminiscent of a painter's palette. The top, modeled through a succession of asymmetrical curves, features a circular hole that further reinforces the palette reference and becomes an integral part of the composition. The seat is supported by three thin, tapered, slightly splayed legs, finished in black, whose linear rigor creates a stark contrast with the free-form, sculptural profile of the teak. The design reflects the organic exploration that pervaded Scandinavian design in the 1950s, when simplified construction was often accompanied by forms inspired by nature and a particular attention to the expressive qualities of wood.
