Executed in softly translucent alabaster with warm cream tones and natural veining, the piece combines classical architectural motifs with exotic decorative imagery.

The circular top is framed by an elegant egg-and-dart border, a design element derived from classical antiquity and frequently employed in Renaissance and Neoclassical ornament. Beneath the top, a beautifully carved leaf capital forms a graceful transition to the column, showcasing the sculptor's attention to detail and mastery of the material.

The cylindrical shaft is richly engraved with a series of figures and animals, including elephants, birds, and other stylized motifs, creating a narrative quality that gives the pedestal a distinctive character. The sculptural base features flowing carved patterns that further enhance the visual depth and texture of the piece.

Combining architectural form with decorative craftsmanship, this pedestal functions beautifully as a display stand for sculpture, ceramics, plants, or other treasured objects, while standing as an artwork in its own right.

A rare and charming example of turn-of-the-century Italian alabaster work, notable for its intricate carvings, exotic imagery, and refined proportions.

Good antique condition with age-appropriate wear and minor signs of use consistent with its age. See less
