The dramatic, book-matched character of the veneer gives each cabinet a warm, sculptural presence, with deep amber, honey and russet tones highlighted by the natural burl pattern. The restrained architecture is quintessentially Art Deco: strong rectangular proportions, broad framed edges and an emphasis on the beauty of the material rather than applied ornament. Each cabinet is divided into an open upper display compartment and a substantial lower storage section with a single door. The doors open to reveal a warm natural-wood interior fitted with three shelves, providing generous practical storage. The pair is particularly appealing for the subtle differences in their natural veneer patterns while maintaining a harmonious, almost architectural symmetry when placed together. The darkened interiors create an especially handsome contrast with the luminous birch root exterior. See less
