Refined French Belle Époque Louis XV Revival bombe chest, likely late 19th/early 20th century. The piece features a rounded bombe form, serpentine façade and dramatically curved sides, hallmarks of French Rococo revival design.
Richly figured veneer is arranged in book-matched and geometric patterns that follow the cabinet’s curved architecture, complemented by a shaped natural marble top, bronze-tone ring pulls and escutcheons, decorative inlay, and carved/turned feet.
The combination of sculptural construction, figured veneer, geometric detailing and marble reflects the sophisticated French interpretation of Louis XV design during the Belle Époque.
This chest is being offered separately from its larger coordinating commode. Together, the two pieces create an unusually handsome matched French revival grouping.
