Fabulous mid-century modern 78" oval Arabescato marble top Florence Knoll table desk, originally designed in 1961 by legendary architect and designer Florence Knoll as part of her "meat and potatoes" collection of functional executive furniture, this versatile piece is perfectly proportioned and flawlessly detailed, frequently used as both a statement conference/dining table and a spacious desk.
It features a premium and highly sought-after natural Arabescato marble top with its characteristic grey veining and elegant bevel edge. The stone quarried in the Carrara region of Italy, is defined by heavy, interlocking veins in shades of deep charcoal, slate gray, and warm cream. These striking veins wind across the surface, creating organic, island-like shapes out of the white background.
The top rests upon a heavy, polished chrome-plated steel X-base pedestal. It showcases the "less is more" ethos of the International Style by creating a floating effect; the thin beveled edge and the slim pedestal base make a massive, heavy piece of stone look incredibly light and airy.
This table is characterized by a striking balance of organic textures and clean, architectural minimalism.
It was introduced in 1961 and remains one of the most iconic achievements in modern furniture design.
A simple and elegant classic design that fits seamlessly into any environment.
