This striking complementary pair depicts two white peacock doves in courting poses, each modeled with a dramatically fanned tail and finely rendered feather detail. Subtle hand-painted facial features and richly colored dark green bases provide contrast to the glossy white porcelain bodies.

Both figures bear the Rosenthal Classic Rose Collection backstamp with “Rosenthal Group Germany Handgemalt,” identifying these examples as German-made, hand-painted Classic Rose production dating approximately 1974–1982. The bases also carry the impressed F. Heidenreich signature/model markings associated with the design.

Heidenreich originally designed Rosenthal's models 1589 and 1590 in 1936, and the sculptural pair was subsequently reproduced by Rosenthal as part of its Classic Rose Collection. The two complementary poses were designed to display beautifully together.
