Offered is a remarkable Early 19th Century primitive pine commode or washstand table, dating circa 1810–1850. Brimming with historic character and honest, utilitarian wear, this versatile accent piece features a unique three-tier configuration: a top drawer, a spacious open middle shelf, and a lower enclosed storage cabinet. The craftsmanship is a showcase of traditional 19th-century cabinetmaking. The top drawer features beautiful, irregular hand-cut dovetail joints with visible craftsman layout scribe lines and original hand-planed bottom planks. The solid wood framework is meticulously constructed using draw-bored mortise-and-tenon joints secured by exposed wooden peg pins, completely free of modern metal brackets or fasteners.
A standout feature is the tabletop, which boasts a highly desirable scalloped, ogee-notched corner profile that elevates it from a basic farmhouse piece into a finely stylized regional antique. The lower cabinet door swings smoothly on classic metal butt hinges to reveal a weathered interior originally meant for chamber pot or pitcher storage.

The wood surfaces show historic "honest wear," including natural wood shrinkage gaps on the multi-plank shelves, surface scratches, pitting, and authentic localized ink/oil staining inside the drawer and lower cabinet floor. These characteristics confirm its long history of utilitarian use and are highly prized by collectors of primitive furniture. Sturdy, structurally sound, and ready for use! less
