This rare miniature twin-handled porcelain tray, handcrafted by Herend Hungary in the beloved Chinese Bouquet Rust (Apponyi Orange) pattern, introduces a remarkable piece of European heritage to a curated home. Featuring the classic miniature shape code 7788, this delicate accent caddy is defined by its elegant elongated profile and twin hand-gilded tab side handles. It beautifully accents the collected texturing of Grandmillennial, traditional Southern cottage, and classic New Traditionalist interior styles, functioning as an exquisite focal piece for a desktop bureau or a nightstand vanity tray.
Styling:
This delicate Hungarian porcelain container serves as a highly functional ceramics accent to elevate a vanity top entry way vignette, bedroom dressing table, or a bedside nightstand display. Its mini tiny small footprint makes it a perfect jewelry box or ring catchall for fine accessories lid protection. In a grandmillenial decor layout, this Apponyi chinoiserie piece provides a classic pop of warm color and rich texture when displayed on an open bookshelf next to leather-bound volumes, layered on top of a lacquer tray, or styled alongside traditional faux-bamboo furniture.
The Craftsmanship:
The historical Herend Porcelain Manufactory has preserved traditional hand-forming and overglaze hand-painting techniques since its nineteenth-century origins. This specific 7876 AOG lidded box was handcrafted in December 1992, representing the prestigious craftsmanship of the late twentieth-century vintage production era. A master porcelain assembler manually shaped and tooled the wet clay ribbon bow onto the lid component prior to the initial kiln cycles.
The brilliant metallic highlights are executed using a specialized 24-karat liquid gold alloy paste, which was manually applied by a factory gilder using ultra-fine pointed brushes before a low-temperature muffle firing at 800°C permanently bonded the pure gold molecules directly into the glassy white glaze. A studio polisher then hand-burnished the gilded surfaces using an agate or hematite stone tool to compress the 24K gold layer, revealing its rich, signature mirror-like luster. The underside displays the authentic blue underglaze heraldic shield factory backstamp from this era, the code 7876 / AOG, the date stamp C CD92, and the hand-inked gilder mark 133.
Cleaning and Care Guide:
To safely safeguard the fine porcelain body and the delicate hand-burnished 24-karat gold decoration, hand wash this piece gently using warm water and a mild, non-abrasive liquid dish soap. Avoid using harsh chemical spray cleansers, abrasive steel wool pads, or soaking the box in water, as coarse textures can dull or thin the precious overglaze gold gilding. This vintage item is strictly not dishwasher or microwave safe.

The hand-painted iron-orange enamel details remain completely bright, and the pure 24K gold gilding on the high-contact relief ribbon bow shows zero micro-scratching, thinning, or glaze rubbing from shelf wear. The lidded rim fits squarely and firmly against the box well. less
