A finely carved grid of raised square panels covers the front of each door, its oxidized brown tone deepened by two centuries of handling. Turn the doors around and the back is plain and primitive, a dark oxidized surface studded with nail heads that show how they were built. Carved teak doors like these were made in Jaisalmer, in Rajasthan, in the early 1800s.

At 42.5 inches wide and 74 inches tall, with finial posts that rise to 79 inches, this pair of antique Jaisalmer doors is a serious architectural piece. Mount them as a pair of doors, hang them on a wall as carved panels, or lean them in an entry where the grid can be seen from across the room. The carved face gives a plain wall depth, and the rough back keeps them honest.
