Stand a pillar candle on it and the whole corner changes. This antique teak column base is built in stepped tiers, wide at the foot and narrowing as it rises, and it carries traces of chipped sage-green paint over aged, weathered wood. It was made to hold something up, and it still does, only now it holds whatever you choose to put on it.
At 10.5 inches across and 8 inches tall, it works as a low pedestal for a pillar candle, a bowl of fruit or a small sculpture. Use it as a plant stand for a pot, a riser to lift a lantern or hurricane glass, or a sculptural accent on a shelf or mantel. Set a tray on top and it becomes a low side table. Because it is teak, it also suits a covered porch, a patio or a garden corner. The paint is aged and will keep weathering outdoors, which is part of its charm.
