Also called "mushroom stones," these architectural elements were used as raised foundations for structures like granaries and hay stores to protect from pests and moisture. Its simplified, mushroom-like form would be at home in any garden as a sculptural accent. Its flattened, slightly domed top could be used as a plant stand with its heavy, conical base providing ample support and stability across a range of surfaces and terrains. The stone is nicely weathered and patinated with a range of colors and textures across its surface. We believe this to be in good antique condition considering the age, and any visible signs of wear are captured in the photos.
