A carved stone planter rests upon a pedestal to create a lovely garden accent. Made in England in the 19th Century, the planter is carved in a classical urn shape with an egg and dart pattern around the wide rim. Below the rim is a band of acanthus leaves, a motif which is echoed at the bottom of the bowl and the top of its square base. The urn sits atop a stone pillar with carved panels featuring intertwined branches in figure-8 shapes. The pillar rests on a plinth base that ensures stability and adds another classical element to the piece. Both the urn and the pillar are beautifully weathered and patinated, having acquired varied textures and colorations. Placed in a courtyard, garden, or greenhouse, this pair make a lovely planter or sculptural accent. We believe this to be in good antique condition considering its age, and any visible signs of wear are captured in the photos.
