The density of these illustrations glows with a gilded luster against the satin black paint that covers the chest. The top consists of a single plank of wood, which sits above the frieze with two drawers that open smoothly with concealed cupped handles. Below are three more spacious drawers that open with turned wood knobs. Each drawer is decorated with a gold border that encloses its deer motifs, and the spun wood poles on either side of the chest are enhanced with thin pinstripes of gold paint for added detail. The piece rests on turned wood feet, which have also been painted with gold accents. This is a unique and whimsical piece that would be at home in a variety of spaces and decorating styles. Cleaned and tightened, we believe this to be in good antique condition considering its age, and any visible signs of wear are captured in the photos.
