Born in Oakland, California, Lundy Siegriest attended the California College of Arts and Crafts. He first worked in the thick impasto style of the Abstract Expressionists but in the late 1950s moved to figurative images inspired by mummies he had seen in Guanajuato, Mexico.
Siegriest exhibited widely and with success including at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts (1950-1951), 3rd Biennale Sao Paulo (1955), Carnegie Institute (Pittsburgh, 1955), Whitney Museum of American Art (1958, 1960), and in Brussels (1958). Invested in art education, Siegriest was a painting instructor at the Academy of Art in San Francisco (1951-1964) and the Junior Center of Art in Oakland (1953-1971). He often exhibited his work with his father, Louis Siegriest, whom he predeceased. Lundy Siegriest's work can be found in the permanent collections of institutions including the Whitney Museum of American Art, Denver Art Museum, Oakland Museum, Santa Barbara Museum and the Library of Congress.
