This substantial example showcases Palmqvist's celebrated Kraka technique, with layers of deep blue glass surrounding the distinctive web-like pattern of trapped air bubbles. The effect changes beautifully with the light, giving the vase remarkable depth and movement.

The Kraka series was introduced by Palmqvist at Orrefors in 1944 and became one of the company's most recognizable examples of postwar Swedish art glass. This example is engraved "Orrefors Kraka No. 322 Sven Palmqvist" on the base.

At just over 12 inches tall and weighing approximately 6 lbs. 11 oz., this is a particularly impressive size for display. Its restrained cylindrical form and rich blue coloration work beautifully in a contemporary, Scandinavian, or Mid-Century Modern interior.

Dimensions: 12-1/8"H x approximately 4-1/2"W; 2-7/8" rim.

Condition: Very good vintage condition. No cracks or significant chips. There are two exceptionally small fleabites several inches above the base, visible only upon close inspection. Light water spotting/mineral residue remains inside the vase despite gentle cleaning. Neither issue detracts from the vase's strong overall presentation and display quality.

A beautiful example of Sven Palmqvist's innovative Orrefors Kraka glass, with excellent scale, color, and presence. See less
