Executed in warm antiqued brass/bronze tones with contrasting dark bodices, the highly stylized female figures are captured in dramatic balletic and rhythmic-gymnastics-inspired poses. Their elongated limbs, abstracted faces, and sweeping metal hoops create a strong sense of movement and sculptural balance, while each figure is dramatically supported on a single leg above a substantial circular dark-finished base.

The elegant attenuated forms reflect the sophisticated Art Deco Revival and Modernist aesthetic frequently seen in Maitland-Smith decorative objects of the late 20th century. Displayed together, the pair has exceptional visual presence and works beautifully on a console, pedestal, library cabinet, or in a collected contemporary or Hollywood Regency interior.

Acquired with an earlier estate-sale tag identifying the pieces as from the Judge McLean estate.
