An imposing monumental ceremonial vase of Italian manufacture, inspired by the great historiated models of the Italian Renaissance.

· Subject … Read more An imposing monumental ceremonial vase of Italian manufacture, inspired by the great historiated models of the Italian Renaissance.

· Subject and Style: Ovoid body surmounted by spectacular handles featuring intertwined serpents spotted in green. The front features a historiated medallion with a mythological scene (Apollo and Daphne), while the neck and back are decorated with Raphaelesque motifs, winged figures, and polychrome grotesques.

· Material and Finish: Glazed ceramic (majolica) hand-painted in polychrome over a high fire; base reinforced with a solid wood element applied during a conservative restoration approximately 70 years ago.

· Ideal for: Grand entrances, period residences, artistic ceramic collections, or as a dramatic centerpiece on a console table.
