Charming petite vintage art pottery vase featuring hand-painted floral decoration and a beautifully aged, extensively crazed glaze.
The rounded body is decorated differently on each side, with a deep burgundy-red flower on one side and a warm golden-yellow flower on the reverse, surrounded by softly painted green foliage. A blue-gray glazed neck provides a striking contrast to the softly colored body.
One of the most appealing features of the piece is its heavily crazed glaze, which gives the surface wonderful depth and timeworn character. Variations in the painted decoration and glaze further contribute to its handcrafted appearance.
The underside is impressed with the number "1779," believed to be a mold, shape or production number rather than a date. Maker and country of origin are unknown.
Approximately 3.5" H.
A characterful little piece for a collection of vintage pottery, displayed on a bookshelf, tabletop or grouped with other antique and vintage ceramics.
