Teak bookcase with adjustable shelves, three large drawers, and a pull-out writing surface. Johannes Sorth for Bornholms Møbelfabrik, Denmark, 1950s/1960s.
Designed by Johannes Sorth for Bornholms Møbelfabrik, the "Bornholmereolen" combines a bookcase, chest of drawers, and writing surface in a single piece. The upper section features adjustable shelves, while a pull-out surface beneath expands the surface and allows the piece to be used as a writing surface. Three large drawers with recessed double handles complete the lower section. The profile of the sides is particularly distinctive, gently curving where the bookcase and chest of drawers meet, a recurring detail in Sorth's furniture for the Danish manufacturer. The raised base with tapered legs and a crosspiece maintains the overall lightness of the piece. Good condition. May show signs of wear. Please refer to the photographs.
