The lamp features … Read more Elegant mid-century “Bologna” pendant lamp by Peill & Putzler, Germany, attributed to Aloys Ferdinand Gangkofner, circa 1950s/1960s. The lamp features a beautifully restrained spherical shade in white opal glass with fine vertical ribbing. Its softly rounded form recalls the quiet elegance of traditional Asian lanterns, translated into a distinctly German mid-century glass design. When illuminated, the opaline glass creates a warm, even and atmospheric glow, while the ribbed surface adds subtle depth and architectural rhythm. This model is part of Peill & Putzler’s highly collectible postwar lighting production and represents Gangkofner’s refined approach to glass, light and sculptural simplicity. The design is minimal, timeless and highly decorative without ever appearing heavy or overstated. The glass shade is in very good condition, with no visible chips or cracks. The black metal canopy shows light age-related wear, consistent with an original vintage piece. Manufacturer’s badge present on the canopy.

Dimensions: height 34 cm including the upper metal pin, diameter approx. 29.6 cm, weight approx. 2.4 kg. A beautifully preserved and very usable German mid-century design classic. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
