The table features a substantial rectangular paneled top supported by four boldly bobbin-turned legs joined by matching turned stretchers arranged in an X-form configuration. Sourced in Provence, France.The table incorporates two draw leaves concealed beneath the central top, allowing it to extend from 55 inches to 93.75 inches in length. Each extension leaf is constructed with a recessed central panel framed by broad walnut borders, complementing the paneled construction of the main top. When fully extended, the table offers generous dining space while maintaining its strong proportions and architectural presence. The walnut has a rich, warm brown tone with attractive variation throughout the grain. The distinctive bobbin-turned legs and stretchers lend the table a sculptural quality characteristic of the Jacobean Revival period. Structurally restored to ensure the table is solid and stable, with the wood refinished while retaining appropriate signs of age and character. The solid wood top and extension leaves exhibit some warping and natural movement consistent with age and construction, as visible in the photographs.
