Striking Brazilian modernist artist proof etching by Judith Claussen, titled “Tower of Babel.”
The vertically composed work depicts a densely layered architectural tower filled with dozens of expressive, overlapping faces and figures. Claussen uses fine, energetic linework and a restrained monochromatic palette to create an intricate figurative composition with a distinctly modernist character.
Handwritten beneath the image “A.P. ‘Tower of Babel’” and signed Judith Claussen at lower right. Acquired in Brazil.
Presented on textured deckle-edge paper and framed with a deep brown fabric mat in a simple period frame.

An unusual and highly decorative example of Brazilian modernist printmaking, particularly compelling for its densely populated figurative composition and architectural Tower of Babel subject.
