Elegant antique Victorian parlor armchair from the later 19th century to early 20th century, 1890-1910, featuring a richly carved wood frame, sculptural openwork details, and softly striped upholstery in muted blush and cream.
The tall back is crowned with an ornate carved crest centered by a fan or shell motif and scrolling foliate decoration. Gracefully shaped arms sweep forward over pierced decorative supports, while slender saber-like legs give the chair a lighter, more refined profile. The upholstered seat and shaped back panel are finished in a subtle vertical stripe and edged with coordinating decorative trim.
The combination of carved ornament, open-back construction, curving arms, and tailored upholstery gives the chair a sophisticated late-Victorian / Renaissance Revival character, making it especially well suited to a bedroom, dressing room, library, entry, or collected traditional interior.
