This antique Tramp Art jewelry or sewing casket features elaborate, multi-layered notch-carving and pyramid layering meticulously hand-cut from salvaged wood.
The upper lid tapers elegantly toward an integrated, stuffed velvet pincushion insert, indicating its original use as a refined lady's sewing or keepsake box. The front facade is further embellished with dimensional, chip-carved circular rosettes that provide excellent geometric depth and visual rhythm along with lion head pulls.
The wood retains a beautiful, deep honey-brown French patina acquired over more than a century. The original hinges function perfectly, opening to reveal a spacious box with mirror and cartonnage interior . A striking conversation piece for a vanity, console table, or library display. See less
