Designed by celebrated sculptor István Lőrincz under factory shape code 5837, this porcelain collector piece beautifully captures the clean geometry and sophisticated lines of twentieth-century fine decorative arts. The figure depicts a young student standing reflectively with her hand raised to her forehead, dressed in a soft celadon blue jumper over a crisp puff-sleeved white blouse. The design is accented by white stockings and brown shoes, while two stacked schoolbooks rest on the grassy baseline by her feet. The entire piece features a high-gloss finish that highlights the delicate pastel color palette and precise hand-painted linework.

Styling:
This statuette brings a lovely touch of narrative charm and vintage character to a curated home. It serves as an excellent high end statue choice for a bookshelf or a studious desk vignette. In a grandmillenial home layout, its small miniature mini footprint and soft blue hues make it a wonderful tiny treasure decor option to display on an entryway console or alongside upscale pottery ceramic items.

The Craftsmanship:
The historical Herend Porcelain figure has maintained traditional handcrafted art deco and painting techniques since its founding in the nineteenth century. This specific porcelain Hungarian figurine was manufactured during the 1960s to the 1980s, showcasing the high-quality craftsmanship of the mid-to-late twentieth-century vintage window. The piece was designed by celebrated Hungarian avant-garde sculptor István Lőrincz, who stripped away traditional realism in favor of sleek, stylized geometry, geometric simplification, and clean lines. Every single element of this figurine, from the smooth carving of her hair to the expressive face of the girl with book, was completed entirely by hand by a single factory artisan. The underside features the official blue underglaze heraldic shield factory mark from this era, the shape code 5837, and individual artisan markings confirming its authentic, completely hand-decorated lineage.

Cleaning and Care Guide
To safely maintain the fine porcelain body and protective glaze finish, hand wash this piece gently using warm water and a mild, non-abrasive dish soap. Avoid submerging the figurine in harsh chemical cleaners or using abrasive scrubbing pads, which can dull the decorative surface decoration. This piece is not dishwasher safe. Because it was manufactured during an era utilizing traditional art glazes, it is strictly designated for decorative use only. See less
