This impressive antique bronze censer features a guardian lion (Foo Dog) seated upon an integral pedestal base. The lion is finely cast with a detailed mane, an open-mouthed expression, and muscular legs ending in clawed feet. The body is adorned with decorative straps, tassels, and floral motifs. The head is removable, revealing a hollow interior designed to hold incense. The surface exhibits a rich, dark patina with scattered remnants of gold and red pigment, giving it a distinguished, historical character. The base bears a rectangular seal mark containing the characters "大明宣德年製" (Made in the Great Ming Xuande Period). This piece is a striking example of traditional metalwork.
