This finely cast gilt bronze sculpture depicts a Qilin, a mythical hooved creature from traditional folklore, in a seated, upright posture. The figure is intricately detailed with a body covered in overlapping scales, a flowing mane, and expressive facial features with a single horn. Its front paws are raised in a dynamic gesture, and it rests upon an integral flat base. Crafted from solid bronze with a thick, gilded surface, this piece exhibits a warm, polished patina with darker areas in the recessed details. Its compact size and solid weight make it ideal for use as a decorative paperweight, a desk ornament, or an addition to a collection of Asian metalware.
