Crafted of elm with mortise-and-tenon joinery, the bench dates to the early 19th century and boasts a rich, timeworn patina. A shallow apron runs beneath the rectangular seat, traced by a beaded edge that flows into floral carvings atop each leg. This abstract floral is known as a melon flower motif, a symbol of prosperity and abundance. See less
