The primitive vessel has a rustic simplicity, potted with thick walls to a tapered cylindrical shape with angular shoulders and a narrowed neck.

The jar exterior is decorated with clay slip to a sgraffito design of birds & flowers and finished by a translucent drip glaze in deep brown and turquoise. The glaze is beautifully irregular, streaked with shades of purple, blue and green and textured by pitted wear, crystalline blooms and fine crazing.
