What a wonderful lamp by Wilkinson Company. This lamp is able to capture the light within the glass so beautifully; you can see how much it radiates and glows in the photos. The green rectangular glass is especially spectacular. You can see how textural it is with the thin lines that run up and down on it. The flowers near the bottom of the shade show great skill in glass blowing with their mottling and ever so subtle ribbing. The lead work here is really thin and precise.
The Wilkinson Company was incorporated in 1907 in Brooklyn, NY. The founder of the company, Elmer Wilkinson, had been trained as a clockmaker and made elaborate clock cases before venturing into art glass lighting in 1909. Due to the financial times, The Wilkinson Co. was only in business for six years before declaring bankruptcy in 1915
