Each lion is seated upright on a drum-shaped base decorated with a relief-cast beast mask and a loose ring handle. The pair is classically posed: the male lion (on the right) rests his paw on a brocade ball, symbolizing dominion over the world, while the female lion (on the left) playfully tends to a cub, representing the nurturing of future generations. Both lions feature intricately detailed curly manes, bulging eyes, open jaws with visible fangs, decorative collars with raised studs and bells, and muscular bodies with pronounced spines and tails. The bronze is finished with a distinctive "flame-color firing" (焱彩灼色) technique, resulting in a rich, mottled teal-green patina with gold-toned highlights on the raised details, giving the pair a warm, aged character.
