The distinctive table features sinuous cabriole legs carved with acanthus leaf accents connected by a bold pierced apron and elaborate stretcher. The apron is centered by a winged putto head within a scrolling rocaille cartouche, connecting the gracefully flowing legs. The legs have beautifully carved floral bouquets at the knees, and lead downward into scrolled foliate feet. The legs are joined by an elaborate X-stretcher mounted as a radiating spray of carved plumes. The mounted decorative items include flag poles with draped swag material, a small drum, and a horn instrument. The ornately carved base is finished in a beautifully weathered aged gilt patina having old repairs as expected. The piece is topped with a whimsical latter added shaped hardwood top finished in a lacquered swirling faux-stone design. The faux painted top having a malachite-like pattern lacquered in a stunning light spring Napoleon green tone. Combining rich gilt and exuberant carving, the table is an incredible example of 18th century Italian Rococo design having a whimsical modern top, well-suited for a variety of interiors as a console, hall table, entry table, or side table.
